Dumpling house expansion open

The expansion to the popular Din Tai Fung dumpling house on Baldwin Ave. has opened for business.

Although unable to simply add-on to the existing Din Tai Fung restaurant, owner Frank Yang found a way to at least connect the kitchens of the two dining areas while creating a separate and more contemporary design to the two-level expansion next door to the north. The expansion opened a few months ago around Thanksgiving (2007).

In 2000, Yang opened the branch of the world famous steamed dumpling house his father opened in Taipei, Taiwan that has been called one of the top ten restaurants in the world by The New York Times.

He describes the expansion changes to his Arcadia shop in both English and then Chinese in this video tour below (the second video is in Mandarin Chinese only):
