This is a historic landmark and is one of my favorite places in Arcadia. I would like to see Caruso succeed with the Shops at Santa Anita in order to let the race track pull in the revenue it needs to stay in operation. The city could use the revenue and other benefits that come with it. The perspective that growth isn't always the answer is understood, but at some point it needs to be realized that times have changed and the race track is not pulling in the revenue it once was. This should be evident from the recent bankruptcy filing by the track owners. The fact is that the area is presently an un-utilized assest at a time when the city is in need. As an Arcadian, I appreciate the income both generate. Yet, as one who has the Mall and the track as neighbors, I can't imagine our existing infrastructure being able to handle the increase in traffic and people. Growth isn't always the answer!
