Less than three days after seven candidates had met the deadline for filing to run for Arcadia City Council, the group has already been reduced to six.
Tammy Woloski, the only female who applied to run, alerted ArcadiasBest.com this morning that she was informed by the City that she did not have enough qualified signatures on her application.
The City Clerk‘s office confirmed that Woloski did not have the required 20 signatures of Arcadia registered voters, who would of course need to be Arcadia residents. The six applicants who are now officially nominees for the three available Council seats in the April 13 General Election are Peter Amundson, Paul Cheng, Bob Harbicht, Jason Lee, Mark “Mickey” Segal, and Sho Tay.
Woloski, a 14-year Arcadia resident whose Japanese name is Miyamoto Sitsuka, said she would consider applying to run for Council again in two years.

We locate the
Peter Cheng? Who is that? I think it’s Paul Cheng…spelling error
Editor’s note: Oops, indeed an error; corrected to say Paul Cheng. Thank you.
very interesting. It does not seem too difficult to get 20 signautres, wonder if there was an issue with those signing not knowing they weren’t official Arcadia residents or something? seems a bit bizarre.
Too bad she did not qualify – would have been good to have a female candidate. Arcadia has had a history of very effective and dedicated female Council Members, among them Mary Young (with whom I served on the Council) and Gail Marshall. Let’s hope that two years from now Ms. Woloski’s or another woman’s name will be on the ballot.
City Council Candidates will be invited to a Candidate Forum on March 23 at the Women’s Club at 7pm to speak to the voters. Please mark your calendars and watch for further information. This Candidate Forum will be sponsored by the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Realtors. Additional sponsors are the Arcadia Women’s Club and Arcadia Weekly Newspaper.
Tammy? Please…. “not qualify”… check into her background and reputation….If we have her as our council member….we will really be in trouble… I will be ashamed to be an Arcadia resident.
