A Celebration of Life will be held for longtime Santa Anita Park employee Bonita Gould at 4 p.m. on June 2 at Peppers Mexican Restaurant.

Employed as a secretary in the track’s Marketing Department for 26 years, Gould retired in 2008 as Marketing Office Manager (M.O.M.) and moved to Arizona, where she passed away on May 20 at age 69 following a brief illness.

Bonne is survived by her two sons, Rob (May) and Greg (Julie) and her daughter, Stephanie (Chris) Graves and grandson, Pete Gould, who was born May 17, 2009

Beloved by many and known to all for her bright and cheery demeanor, she was an integral part of Santa Anita and she touched many, many people over the years in a very positive way, including both patrons and fellow employees.

Bonne’s family and friends encourage those who knew her through her employment at Santa Anita to join them at Peppers on June 2. Hors d’ oeuvres will be provided.

Peppers Mexican Restaurant is located across the street from Santa Anita, at 181 Colorado Place. Those wishing to attend are asked to contact Annie Gutierrez at Santa Anita by Sunday, May 30. She can be reached at (626) 574-6388.

Bonnie was one of the first people to welcome me when I joined the synagogue. She was a very special person, full of life and humor. She was always fun to be around. She will be missed by all who knew her.

I remember Bonnie from Camino Grove and Dana PTA days (our children are about the same ages) and then having contact with her at Santa Anita when our business paths crossed. She was always friendly and interested on a personal level and most efficient professionally. Over time, the specifics have blurred but I have good memories of chatting with her at her desk at SART and talking to her on the phone in what I recall was her providing a service that was her typical ‘above and beyond.’ My condolences to the family.
