Clara Baldwin’s yacht, painting

A painting of a yacht owned by Clara Baldwin is being offered for sale.

Clara Baldwin, the eldest daughter of Arcadia founder Elias “Lucky” Baldwin, and for whom the Baldwin Stocker Elementary School is named, had many elegant properties created especially for her during her lifetime, including a private Pullman 1912 rail car that is on display at the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar.

She also commissioned a steam yacht that was designed by New York’s foremost yacht designer Henry J. Gielow and built in 1903 by J.N. Robins Co. in South Brooklyn, NY. The Hauoli, as she was called, was built of steel and measured 211′ x 22’3″ x 12′.

The painting is 17.5″ x 26,” is signed and dated in the lower right, and identifyed as S.Y. Hauloi in the lower left.
The overall condition is very good with some minor fixing.
