Arcadia student Christian Zwicky has undertaken the challenge to spay/neuter 20 felines in the City of Arcadia at no cost to the owner as a project towards earning his Eagle Scout for Troop 125 in the Lucky Baldwin District.
Zwicky says, “I am hoping to address the feral cat population as well as the needless suffering of the homeless felines.” He has already captured and saved five felines on Huntington Drive and on First Avenue behind Arcadia Post Office. He and his mother, Dr. Barbarina Zwicky, h.c., adopted two of them, and his grandmother adopted one. He says the others were processed through Pasadena Humane Society and spayed/neutered before being placed for adoption.
Christian has arranged with his family’s veterinarian, Dr. Valerie Tesauro, DVM, at TLC Pet Medical Center, South Pasadena, to neuter 10 male felines and 5 female felines who live with Arcadia residents. He would like to extend an open invitation to any Arcadia resident who would like to have their feline spayed/neutered at no cost, although any donations to support the cause would be appreciated, with any monies exceeding the cost of the project to be donated to the Pasadena Humane Society, which also serve the city of Arcadia.
