Princesses at Promenade

“American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi was at The Promenade at Westfield Santa Anita Friday with a different of judges evaluating the singing and personalities of young ladies auditioning for a new musical stage production of “Cinderella”.

It was the second of three such auditions at area Westfield malls — the first was Wednesday at Westfield Topanga; tryouts move to Westfield Culver City Wednesday (July 14).

Auditions ran most of the day during the bright sun and heat Friday but even those applicants who had been waiting for hours were smiling and cheerful when they took the stage late in the day. DioGuardi was there for most of the auditions but left by mid-afternoon.

“Dancing with the Stars” pro dancer Mark Ballas is doing choreography for the production by “So You Think You Can Dance?” producer Nigel Lythgoe’s Lythgoe Family Productions slated for Nov. 27 – Dec. 19 at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood.
