Classic family PG-rated movies will be shown free preceded by a Radio Disney pre-show.

Special discounts and promotions tied to the movie nights will also be available, and Westfield Santa Anita is also offering a $500 Westfield shopping spree to guests who enter the contest — no purchase required.

The four men were winners of the City of Arcadia Senior Services Division’s senior pool tournament May 25 at the Arcadia Community Center. The tournament was held in preparation for the San Gabriel Valley Senior Center Tournament, which is set for Thursday, June 24th in the City of La Puente.

The Sports Camp is held at Arcadia High School and offers three weeks starting August 2 to August 20.  Weeks one and two are for youth entering grades 5-9 and week three is for youth entering grades 1-4.  This camp utilizes the school’s athletic facilities and features a variety of fun sports activities for youth including swimming, flag football, basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball and other fun group games.  Each week there are two excursions and two swim days.

Both day and sports camps are $110 per week with the exception of week four of day camp which is $100, dated July 6-9, (Monday, July 5 is a holiday).   To get a copy of the summer “Buzz” stop by Arcadia City Hall or the Arcadia Public Library.   To register in person come by our office located at 375 Campus Drive.  You can also go to the city’s website under the Recreation and Community Services Department to download a copy.  The “Buzz” also displays programs and classes for the 2010 summer season in our new, more user-friendly format for you and your family. Everyone is welcome  for a celebration of reading. Enjoy a story or two, watch a short video, have a snack and get set for some surprises! Maybe even meet a real firefighter and see a real fire engine up close!

Also in the Imagination Theater, for three consecutive Mondays at 3:30 p.m., beginning March 8 and continuing March 15 and 22, the afterschool storytime for elementary school children will give students the chance to hear some of the books nominated for the California Young Reader Medal read aloud.

On March 22 you will get to vote for your favorite!

There will also be a fun craft relating to the books we read.  No registration required.  Come for one, two, or all three meetings.
