NAI Capital senior vice presidents Marie Taylor and Dan Bacani have been named 2011 NAI Capital Club silver level honorees.

The commercial real estate brokers, based in Pasadena, with many clients and properties in Arcadia, were selected for their winning attitude, extraordinary performance, their client dedication and their determination, according to NAI.
The company says Taylor and Bacani have demonstrated these qualities throughout the year, providing superior client service and results.

The pair represent several property owners and businesses in Arcadia. In 2011, they were retained by Matt Denny’s Ale House Restaurant as a consultant on their lease renewal, and are the exclusive leasing representatives for Dave Scheidler of DPS Software for their building at 41 E. Foothill Blvd. They are currently the exclusive leasing agents for Gentile McCloskey & Company.

Taylor, LEED AP, and Bacani obtained the status of Capital Club Silver level for their outstanding level of production in 2011 where they ranked #1 and #3 respectively in the Pasadena office of NAI Capital Commercial Real Estate. In spite of the challenging market and in many ways because of it, Taylor and Bacani continue to be expert marketers of retail, industrial and office properties in Arcadia as well as a relentless advocates for their clients.
Taylor was also active all year in support of the start-up Arcadia Downtown Business Association.

Ground was broken today (Friday, April 29) on the four-level, 43-unit apartment rental complex for low-income seniors called Campus Commons on the east border of Arcadia High School on Campus Blvd by early 2013.

Ashwood Construction Company president Steve Froberg introduced local dignitaries including Mayor Gary Kovacic and Arcadia Chamber of Commerce president Bob Hoffman.

While continual declines in the residential homes market in a down economy are causing big losses in the stock market, Arcadians are enjoying a bubble that has the city’s property values rising far more than any other city in the entire Los Angeles County.

Although the overall County Assessment Roll is down $18.5 billion this year compared to 2009, or an average of -1.7%, Arcadia property values are up 4.4%, according to the 2010 Assessor Report. The next closest in all of L.A. County is up 2.9%, and that is Arcadia neighbor Temple City. In fact, the three top gainers and five of the top ten in the County are in San Gabriel Valley, with San Marino third at +2.4%, South Pasadena tied for 7th at +1.8%, and San Gabriel tenth at +1.4%. Pasadena is up 1.1%.

In between are cities such as Rancho Palos Verdes, Hidden Hills, and Redondo Beach.

But most are in negative territory, such as Los Angeles, down 2.3%, Beverly Hills at -2.6%, and Long Beach at -2.9%, and some very severe like Palmdale and Lancaster, down 12.1% and 14.4%, respectively.

Why is Arcadia such a happy anomaly?
The report describes Arcadia this way: “Located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, Arcadia is considered a desirable family community with great schools and location. This city continues to evolve from the modest homes of the 1950’s to the elegant homes of today. The majority of new homes built in Arcadia range in size from 3,000 to 6,000 square feet and some are built in excess of 10,000 square feet. The strong resale value of these luxury homes and increased demand for new construction are the main factors that led to this city’s growth.

Arcadia’s Arlynn Robinson will be named Small Business Woman of the Year at the 11th Annual Women In Business Legislative Update & Awards Luncheon on July 16 at the Hilton Hotel in Pasadena.

The recognition comes only a few weeks after Arlynn’s son Gary Robinson II was named Firefighter of the Year by the Arcadia Rotary Club.

The luncheon is hosted by Assemblyman Anthony Portantino and Senator Carol Liu.

The awards celebrate the outstanding contributions made to the greater good of the workforce through the advancement of business and the proliferation of new jobs while also serving as role models for the community and coworkers.

“These women are leading the way into the 21st Century economy,” said Liu, D-La Cañada-Flintridge.

Brigadier General Mary J. Knight, the first female general in the California National Guard and the Guard’s first woman leader, will give the keynote speech.

Arlynn Robinson

Arlynn, a long-standing Associate Broker Realtor with Henry Nunez Real Estate, Inc. in Arcadia, will be honored for her unrelenting passion to incorporate community and the real estate business within the San Gabriel Valley. She is a member of the National, California, and Arcadia Association of Realtors, the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership, Secretary/Treasurer for the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Executive Board, and Co-Chair of the Chamber’s Ambassadors. She is also a member of the Pasadena Rotary Club, serving as past Social Chairman, and is on Lincoln Training Center’s “Affair of the Heart” Committee.

Born in Pasadena, raised in Arcadia, Arlynn began her volunteer work at an early age for the Jr. Red Cross, then City of Hope, and later as a Sunday school teacher.
