I attended the Community Meeting and will only say at this point that I don’t think the gold palms will survive the cut. For sure the Chandeliers are staying (they will be taken down and cleaned), as well as the bar. I am trying to be positive, but the room may change considerably. Santa Anita treated us royally with lovely food and drinks, and it was an honor to be in the “old” Chandelier Room for probably the last time.

I am so relieved that The Chandelier Room will not lose any of the beautiful antiques that make it The Chandelier Room! I love hearing that so many people care about the preservation of historic artifacts.

Kudos on your very informative article. I agree the best part is regarding the Chandelier Room. What a tragedy if they were to change it. Too much history, elegance and memories to change such an historic room. I agree that Santa Anita could use a little updating, but those are things that are needed. Changing the Chandelier Room would not bring in more patrons. The other upgrades are certainly needed and wouldn’t affect the elegance of the track. Hopefully the added dates will help the City and more jobs for all of us.

Thank you for a terrific article, Scott! The best part is that they have come to their senses regarding the Chandelier Room. However, I will not discard my picket sign until after the Tuesday meeting, just to be sure.

I ordered two cases of wine almost 3 weeks ago and the Vons Mkt here in Hemet mgt gives me nothing but excuses why they can’t get them even tho they are on back order. Why?
