For the period of Sunday, November 26th through Saturday, December 2nd , the Police Department responded to 966 calls for service, of which 105 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, November 26:
1. At 2:18 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the area of Baldwin
Avenue and Gate 7 of the Santa Anita Racetrack for driving through a red light. Upon
contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from the driver.
Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 32-year-old male from Los Angeles
was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was arrested and transported
to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
2. At 2:29 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of West Foothill
Boulevard regarding the report of a burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered the home
through an unlocked bedroom window, ransacked the home, and stole several pieces of
jewelry before fleeing the scene.
Monday, November 27:
3. At 2:28 a.m., officers responded to CVS Pharmacy, 188 Las Tunas Drive, regarding a male
subject trespassing on private property. Officers located and contacted the subject. An
investigation revealed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 31-year-old male
transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
4. At 7:48 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of 310 South First Avenue regarding the
report of a man exposing himself on the sidewalk. The 31-year-old transient was located,
arrested, and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Tuesday, November 28:
5. At 8:47 a.m., officers responded to the rear of 101 West Huntington Drive regarding a
transient encampment on private property. Officers contacted a male subject and an
investigation revealed he was a sex offender in violation of his registration. The 24-year-
old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
6. At 10:32 p.m., officers responded to Albertson’s, 298 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a
shoplifting report. A female suspect stole a crate of items and fled the store without paying.
The 41-year-old female transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for
booking.
Wednesday, November 29:
7. At 8:26 a.m., officers responded to Xiang Ji Beef Noodle, 411 East Huntington Drive,
regarding the report of a burglary. Unknown Suspect(s) entered the location by smashing
the front glass door. The suspect(s) stole money from the cash register and two bags of
dumplings before fleeing the scene.
8. At 11:03 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of El Dorado Street
regarding a burglary that had just occurred. Two suspects gained entry to the home by
kicking in a rear door. The suspects ransacked the home and stole cash and jewelry before
fleeing the scene. The suspects wore orange reflective construction vests and face masks.
9. At 8:39 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Hampton Road regarding a burglary report. The gardener discovered the sliding glass door had been smashed while the owner was out of the country. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the home and ransacked the residence before fleeing the location.
Thursday, November 30:
10. At 7:44 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of South Old Ranch Road
regarding an attempted burglary. The resident was inside his home when he heard the
suspect smash the rear sliding glass door to his home. No suspects were seen or located.
11. At 11:44 p.m., an officer was patrolling the 00 block of East Colorado Boulevard when he
observed a driver throw a cup containing liquid out of his window. The officer conducted
a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor
of alcohol emitting from the driver. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the
43-year-old male from Duarte was driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
Friday, December 1:
12. At 1:27 p.m., officers responded to JC Penney, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a
theft that had just occurred. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle which
was occupied by three suspects. An investigation revealed one of the passengers stole
merchandise from the store and dropped it when confronted by a loss prevention agent
before fleeing the scene in the awaiting vehicle. The theft suspect and the driver had
outstanding warrants for their arrest and a second passenger was in possession of an open
alcoholic beverage. The 27-year-old male from La Puente, 35-year-old male from
Monrovia, and 38-year-old male transient were arrested and transported to the Arcadia City
Jail for booking.
13. At 9:42 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of South Third Avenue
regarding a disturbance. An unwelcome family member refused to leave the location. The
subject had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and was in violation of his sex offender
registration. The 24-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia
City Jail for booking.
Saturday, December 2:
14. At about 8:04 p.m., officers responded to Hsiang Chen Pai Inc, 604 North Santa Anita
Avenue, regarding a burglary that had just occurred. A male seen wearing a hooded
sweatshirt entered the business through an unlocked door. The location is currently under
construction. No property was believed to be stolen at the time of the report.
