Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - October 1st to October 7th, 2023


For the period of Sunday, October 1st through Saturday, October 7th , the Police Department responded to 1,138 calls for service, of which 110 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.


Sunday, October 1:

1. At 2:06 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop near the area of East Live Oak Avenue and

Peck Road on a vehicle for repeated lane straddling. Upon contacting the driver, the officer

detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person and breath. The driver admitted

to driving under the influence of alcohol. A records check also revealed the 52-year-old

male from El Monte was on probation for a prior DUI arrest. He was arrested and

transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Monday, October 2:

2. At 5:27 a.m., an officer responded to Monarch, located at 1212 South Baldwin Avenue,

regarding a commercial burglary investigation. The officer discovered unidentified

suspect(s) forced open the front door but it appears as though they fled emptyhanded. No

loss was reported but some items had been disturbed. The investigation is pending a review

of the surveillance footage.


3. At 2:02 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Vaquero Road

regarding a burglary investigation. Sometime between August 28th and September 30th

,someone removed the door handles from the door to enter the home and ransacked the

residence. The loss is unknown.


4. At 9:09 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Police Department regarding a battery

that had occurred at Valero Gas, located at 900 West Duarte Road. The victim stated he

was approached by a family member’s former spouse and the altercation turned violent

when the suspect punched the victim. The suspect, a 34-year-old local transient, has not

been located.


5. At 9:21 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of West Las Flores Avenue

regarding a burglary investigation. The officer determined a lone male suspect entered the

home through a second-story window and was scared off when he encountered the resident.

No loss was reported. The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’10” tall, and

possibly wearing a baseball hat.


Tuesday, October 3:

6. At 8:48 a.m., an officer responded to Swan Spa, located at 921 South Baldwin Avenue,

regarding a commercial burglary investigation. Surveillance cameras captured a lone

suspect shattering the front glass door and ransacking the front desk of the business. The

loss is unknown.


Wednesday, October 4:

7. At 8:13 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 700 block of Carriage House Drive

regarding a burglary investigation. Sometime between September 26th and October 3rd

, someone used a window punch to break a rear glass door. Once inside, the suspect(s)

ransacked and a safe had been pried open. The loss is unknown.


Thursday, October 5:

8. At 3:22 p.m., an officer responded to Vons, located at 745 West Naomi Avenue, regarding

a commercial burglary investigation. The officer discovered two male suspects entered the

store and stole nearly $1,400.00 worth of alcohol. They fled in a newer model white SUV.

They are described as males, one in his late 30s and the other in his 60s.


9. At 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of East Arthur Avenue

regarding a burglary investigation. A witness stated he saw three suspects in his neighbor’s

back yard. He scared them off only for them to return to the same home a short time later

and attempt to successfully burglarize the home. Two of the suspects were scared off a

second time and they fled in a black sedan. The last suspect was seen entering a second

vehicle, a white sedan. The suspects were described as three males, all approximately 5’5”

to 5’7” tall, wearing hooded sweatshirts.
