For the period of Sunday, September 24th through Saturday, September 30th
, the Police Department responded to 1,011 calls for service, of which 114 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Monday, September 25:
1. At 9:05 a.m., an officer responded to QQ Nails, located at 910 South Baldwin Avenue,
regarding a commercial burglary investigation. A review of the surveillance footage
revealed a lone suspect smashed the front window, ransacked the front counter, and fled
with a credit card processing machine.
2. At 12:01 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1600 block of Lovell Avenue
regarding a burglary investigation. Sometime between September 22nd and 25th
, unidentified suspect(s) smashed a window and once inside, they ransacked the home and
fled with cash and a firearm.
3. At 11:25 p.m., an officer responded to Residence Inn, located at 321 East Huntington
Drive, regarding an attempted commercial burglary investigation. A victim of the hotel
stated someone attempted to defeat the hotel door lock, but was scared off when the victim
banged on the door. The suspect was not able to defeat the lock and did not enter the hotel
room.
Tuesday, September 26:
4. At 2:43 a.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of West Woodruff
Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. Sometime between September 10th and 26th
, someone broke the rear sliding glass door and fled with stolen handbags.
5. At 10:20 a.m., an officer responded to Embassy Suites, located at 211 East Huntington
Drive, regarding a robbery investigation. The officer discovered a suspect confronted a
UPS delivery driver and demanded a package. When the delivery driver refused to hand
him the package, the suspect forcefully grabbed the package, pushed the UPS employee,
and fled to an awaiting silver sedan. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his late
30’s, with a moustache, facial hair, and tattoos on his arms, hands, and legs.
Wednesday, September 27:
6. At 9:31 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 300 block of South Third Avenue
regarding a battery investigation. The officer determined an argument between an aunt and
her nephew’s girlfriend resulted in a mutual battery.
Friday, September 29:
7. At 1:34 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1100 block of East Camino Real
Avenue regarding a battery investigation. The officer discovered an elderly wife had
battered her elderly husband. The 86-year-old female from Arcadia was arrested and
transported to the Pasadena City Jail for booking.
8. At 2:24 p.m., an officer responded to LA Fitness, located at 1325 South Baldwin Avenue,
regarding a commercial burglary investigation. The victim stated someone opened his
secured locker and stole his credit card and cash. The crime occurred sometime between
1:30 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.
9. At 12:50 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of Whispering Pines
Drive regarding a burglary that occurred in July. The victim stated someone entered his
home and stole a handbag and ring. The victim believes the suspect is his ex-wife.
10. At 8:04 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 900 block of North Santa Anita
Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. The victim discovered someone had forced open
a rear door and ransacked the home. The suspect(s) fled with handbags and electronics.
Saturday, September 30:
11. At 10:26 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Walnut Avenue
regarding a burglary investigation. The victim stated someone shattered the rear glass door
and ransacked the home. The victim was unsure of what had been stolen.
