Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, December 29th through Saturday, January 4th

For the period of Sunday, December 29th through Saturday, January 4th , the Police Department responded to 832 calls for service, of which 93 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.



Sunday, December 29:

At approximately 12:02 a.m., officers responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a domestic disturbance between two men. An investigation revealed one of the males attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his person and through a series of tests, determined he was driving under the influence of alcohol. A records check also revealed the suspect had an outstanding warrant. The suspect was arrested.


Monday, December 30:

At approximately 5:50 p.m., an officer responded to Acuity Optical, located at 288 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a robbery investigation. The officer discovered the suspect entered the store, selected numerous pairs of glasses, and when the employee confronted the suspect, the suspect attempted to punch the employee. The employee described the suspect as a white or Hispanic male, around 5’10”, with a thin build and short, dark hair. The suspect fled toward the Metro Transit Plaza.


1Wednesday, January 1:

At approximately 5:39 p.m., an officer responded to The Shops at Santa Anita, located at 400

South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a battery report. A review of the surveillance footage revealed an employee at Haidilao Hot Pot Arcadia hit and kicked another employee. The suspect was arrested.


Thursday, January 2:

At approximately 9:59 p.m., officers responded to the 00 block of Bishop Court regarding a woman who appeared to be asleep at the wheel. Upon contacting the driver, she admitted to being “really drunk”. A preliminary alcohol screen test revealed she had been driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .220%. Surveillance footage captured the vehicle driving onto the lawn of a nearby residence. The driver was arrested.


Friday, January 3:

At approximately 1:24 p.m., an officer responded to the LA Fitness, located at 1325 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary. The victim discovered someone broke the lock on his locker and stole multiple items, including a wallet. The suspect then attempted to use the victim’s credit card in Compton.


Saturday, January 4:

At approximately 7:39 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Highland

Oaks Drive regarding an audible alarm activation. An investigation revealed unknown suspect(s) activated the alarm when they shattered a rear sliding glass door. The suspect(s) then ransacked the office and master bedroom and fled. The loss is unknown as of the date of this report.
