For the period of Sunday, February 16th through Saturday, February 22nd, the Police Department responded to 996 calls for service, of which 111 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, February 16:
At approximately 8:40 a.m., an officer responded to Home Liquor, located at 502 East Live Oak Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary incident. The business owner interrupted a lone male suspect attempting to break into the location. The suspect fled in a black SUV.
Monday, February 17:
At approximately 9:21 a.m., an officer responded to Chapman Funeral Homes, located at 51 East Huntington Drive, regarding a burglary report. Sometime during the weekend, an unknown suspect entered the business and stole a laptop and cremation necklaces. There were no signs of forced entry, so the business is unsure how the suspect entered.
Tuesday, February 18:
At approximately 12:58 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of West Naomi Avenue regarding a burglary investigation. The reporting party discovered someone pried open a window and ransacked the bedroom of her recently deceased father’s home. The loss is unknown.
Wednesday, February 19:
At approximately 8:09 a.m., an officer responded to the 900 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle report. An investigation revealed an unknown suspect smashed the passenger window to the car and attempted to start the vehicle by tampering with the ignition.
Thursday, February 20:
At approximately 12:36 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Palm Drive regarding a fraud investigation. Using a credit monitoring application, the victim discovered someone opened two fraudulent credit cards in their name.
Friday, February 21:
At approximately 4:31 p.m., an officer responded to the area of 12359 Lower Azusa Road regarding a robbery report. The officer determined a 25-year-old male from El Monte punched the victim in the face and forcefully stole a bag the victim was carrying. The suspect was located, arrested, and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. A records check revealed the suspect had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
Saturday, February 22:
At approximately 12:31 p.m., an officer responded to 24 Hour Fitness, located at 125 North First Avenue, regarding a commercial burglary investigation. The victim discovered someone broke into their locker, stole their credit cards, and made fraudulent charges using the credit cards.
