Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, July 21, through Saturday, July 27


For the period of Sunday, July 21, through Saturday, July 27, the Police Department responded to 968 calls for service of which 83 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.



Sunday, July 21:

1. At 2:43 p.m., officers were dispatched to The Shops at Santa Anita at 400 S. Baldwin Ave (Macy's) regarding Macy's loss prevention detaining a suspect for theft. The suspect and his wife were observed by a loss prevention officer entering Macy's with an empty bag, filling it with clothing items, and leaving the store. The suspect was confronted and detained until the officers arrived. The loss prevention officer provided the officers with CCTV footage showing the incident, a report, and a detailed list of the stolen items. The suspect was cited for Petty Theft and ordered to appear before Pasadena Superior Court.


Monday, July 22:

2. At 9:23 a.m. officers were called to the area of Sycamore Avenue and Ramona Road following a report of a man with a rifle. An investigation revealed that a nearby resident was using a BB gun to shoot rats in his backyard. The resident cooperated with officers, who found the BB gun inside his house. The resident was warned for violating a Municipal Code and released.


Tuesday, July 23:

3. At 8:30 am, a graffiti abatement worker arrived at the cleaning site near Second and Colorado to remove graffiti. While driving his truck along the trail, the victim encountered a man standing in front of a tent, blocking the path. The victim got out of his truck, instructed the man to move, but he refused and brandished a metal object, threatening the victim. Officers responded to the incident, but the suspect escaped. The encampment was cleared by the Public Works department. The suspect, described as a thin black male in his thirties, wearing a white shirt and blue shorts, fled the scene.


Wednesday, July 24:

4. At 12:17 a.m., officers responded to the 30 block of Miren Place regarding an incident that

involved a male subject attempting to open a residence's rear sliding door. The resident identified the individual as her ex-boyfriend who admitted to prowling. After an investigation officers determined the ex-boyfriend was under the influence of alcohol which lead to his arrest for public intoxication.


Thursday, July 25:

5. At 11:30 a.m., an officer responded to Bellezza Studio Salon at 292 E. Foothill Blvd for a report of a recent commercial burglary. Upon investigation, it was found that between July 24, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. and July 25, 2024, at 7:30 a.m., unknown individual(s) broke a key lock box attached to the door handle. The individual(s) then used the key from the lock box to gain entry and stole around $400 worth of miscellaneous equipment. The location does not have any alarms or CCTV cameras.


Friday, July 26:

6. At 5:15 p.m., in the LA Fitness parking lot at 1325 S. Baldwin Avenue, the victim discovered their vehicle's window had been smashed. The victim observed an unidentified male suspect fleeing the general area of the scene on foot and immediately contacted the police department. Officers arrived quickly and found the suspect near the rear of Little Province Café at 1326 S. Baldwin Avenue. Additionally, the victim reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in the area, which was thought to be involved. Officers stopped that vehicle as it attempted to leave the area and detained a second male suspect. Officers were unable to connect the suspects to the crime; however, one of the suspects was arrested for having burglary tools in his possession.


Saturday, July 27:

7. At 5:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to an audible alarm alert at Shanghailander Palace on 1440 S. Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered a broken side window. After searching the premises, no suspect(s) were found. A safe from the rear office was found near the side door, but it remained unopened. A flashlight, left behind by the suspect(s), was gathered and swabbed for DNA. According to CCTV footage, two unidentified suspects entered the establishment while a third suspect waited in a getaway vehicle.
