Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, June 23rd, through Saturday, June 29th


For the period of Sunday, June 23rd, through Saturday, June 29th, the Police Department responded to 949 calls for service of which 109 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.



Sunday, June 23:

1. At 3:21 p.m., an officer was patrolling the parking lot of REI, 214 North Santa Anita Avenue, when he observed a man lying on the asphalt. Upon contacting the man, the officer noticed symptoms of alcohol intoxication and determined that he was unable to care for himself. The 40-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

2. At 10:34 p.m., officers responded to the area of Santa Clara Avenue and Huntington Drive

regarding the report of a man with a gun. The subject was described as a male wearing a black shirt, blue shorts, carrying a white purse. Officers located and detained the subject. He was not in possession of a firearm; however, he was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 20-year-old male from Pasadena was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Monday, June 24:

3. At 11:45 a.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of Delicious Food Corner, 855 South

Baldwin Avenue, regarding the report of a vehicle burglary that had just occurred. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a backpack and a laptop.

4. At 6:18 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 00 block of West Camino Real Avenue regarding the report of an attempted burglary. The resident was inside her home when two suspects attempted to open her locked patio screen door. The suspects fled the scene after being confronted by the resident. The first suspect was described as male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 190 pounds, wearing a green hat, blue facemask, blue shirt, grey pants, and black shoes. The second suspect was described as male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds, wearing a grey hat, blue facemask, a grey sweater, green pants, grey shoes, and a green backpack.

5. At 7:11 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Norman Avenue regarding an audible alarm. Surveillance footage revealed two suspects forced entry into the home by smashing a side window. The suspects ransacked several rooms, stealing an unknown amount of property before fleeing the scene. The suspects matched the descriptions of the two suspects in the burglary that occurred on Camino Real an hour prior.


Tuesday, June 25:

6. At 9:48 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of North Baldwin Avenue

regarding an audible alarm. Unknown suspect(s) entered the home through an unlocked rear

sliding glass door. The suspect(s) ransacked several rooms before fleeing the scene. The amount of property stolen was undetermined at the time of the report due to the homeowner being out of the country.

7. At 10:28 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Los Altos Avenue regarding the report of a burglary in progress. The residents were home when unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear sliding glass door. The suspects fled the scene after being alerted that the residents were inside the home.


Wednesday, June 26:

8. At 7:44 a.m., officers responded to Ultimate Automotive, 418 North First Avenue, regarding the report of a burglary. An employee arrived for work and discovered the office window had been smashed and the office had been ransacked. Unknown suspect(s) stole cash from the cash drawer before fleeing the scene.

9. At 1:04 p.m., an officer responded to the 400 block of San Antonio Road regarding a U.S. Postal Service mail truck that had been burglarized. The unknown suspect(s) likely used a mail key to gain access to the locked rear sliding door of the truck. The suspect(s) stole approximately 400 pieces of mail. The suspect vehicle was seen parked behind the mail truck. It was described as a matte black convertible sedan.


Thursday, June 27:

10. At 1:49 a.m., officers responded to the parking structure at 24 Hour Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a stolen vehicle report. At 1:05 a.m. the victim parked and secured his vehicle on the first level of the parking structure before entering the gym. After completing his workout, the victim changed his clothing inside the locker room and discovered an unknown suspect had stolen his pants and his car key fob from his gym bag. The victim then discovered his car had been stolen.

11. At 4:39 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of San Carlos Road regarding suspicious circumstances. The resident was in his kitchen feeding his baby when he saw three male suspects, wearing masks and gloves, enter his back yard. The resident yelled at them to leave, and the suspects fled the scene in a white Ford SUV.


Friday, June 28:

12. At 4:24 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Carolwood Drive regarding an attempted burglary report. Sometime between 5:00 p.m. Thursday, and noon on Friday, unknown suspect(s) attempted to pry open the victim’s rear bedroom door.

13. At 10:34 p.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven, 1003 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a vehicle that had crashed into the store building. The driver was not injured, however four people inside sustained minor to moderate injuries. Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from him. Through a series of tests, the officer determined the 53-year-old male from Arcadia was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Saturday, June 29:

14. At 2:00 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of Fairview Avenue regarding the report of a U.S. Postal Service mail truck that had been burglarized. A witness saw the suspect removing multiple trays of mail from the back of the mail truck and loading them into a white Alfa Romeo sedan. An investigation revealed no damage to the lock. It is believed the suspect used a mail key to enter the locked mail truck. The suspect was described as a male with dark hair and a buzzcut wearing a shirt with a white stripe on it.
