Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -Sunday, March 17th, through Saturday, March 23rd



For the period of Sunday, March 17th, through Saturday, March 23rd, the Police Department responded to 945 calls for service of which 125 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.


Sunday, March 17:

1. At 2:03 a.m., officers responded to the area of First Avenue and Lucille Avenue regarding the report of a battery. An investigation revealed a boyfriend and girlfriend were having a verbal dispute when the male half slapped his girlfriend several times and placed her in a headlock leaving visible injuries. The 34-year-old male from Glendale was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


2. At 12:04 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2700 block of Holly Avenue regarding a burglary report. A neighbor was checking on the home while the resident was out of town when she noticed the side door was open. Unknown suspect(s) entered the home by unknown means and ransacked several bedrooms. The loss was unknown at the time of the report.


Monday, March 18:

3. At 9:00 a.m., officers responded to Synchrony Industries Inc., 5635 Peck Road, regarding a theft report. A male suspect with short brown hair, wearing a black shirt and black sweatpants, climbed onto the roof of the business and stole several copper pipes. He fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV.


4. At 10:29 a.m., an officer responded to the 100 block of Santa Cruz Road regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. A tree-trimmer left his truck parked on the street while he worked when he heard a window break. The victim saw two suspects stealing chainsaws and a leaf blower from his truck and placing them in their white truck before fleeing the scene.


5. At 4:15 p.m., a male subject approached the front counter of the Arcadia Police Department with the intention of obtaining a vehicle release for a vehicle used in a crime. The subject provided the officer with a fraudulent Colombian driver’s license. The 26-year-old male from South El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


6. At 5:42 p.m., officers responded to the shopping center located at 150 East Duarte Road regarding a male subject causing a disturbance. The subject threw a plastic bottle at one of the businesses and charged into a business owner hitting him on the left side of his back. Officers located and detained the subject. The 48-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Tuesday, March 19:

7. At 7:03 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive regarding the report of a stolen vehicle. The victim informed officers that she had an Apple AirTag inside her car and that she tracked it to a location in El Monte. The Arcadia PACE Team conducted a search for the vehicle and located it unoccupied on California Street in El Monte.


8. At 8:24 a.m., an officer responded to Hydroworlds, 5623 Peck Road, regarding the report of a burglary. Unknown suspect(s) used an unknown tool to remove glass from the front door and stole packages from inside the business.


Wednesday, March 20:

9. At 8:48 a.m., officers responded to the parking structure at 288 North Santa Anita Avenue

regarding a male subject previously advised of trespassing. The reporting party was desirous of prosecution against the subject for trespassing on private property. The 33-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


10. At 11:56 a.m., officers responded to the 00 block of East Foothill Boulevard regarding a vehicle burglary. A male suspect wearing a black facemask was seen entering a delivery truck and stealing several packages. The suspect fled the scene in a gray SUV.


Thursday, March 21:

11. At 3:48 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery that had just occurred. The male suspect stole merchandise when he was confronted by two loss prevention officers. The suspect punched one officer in the stomach and the other in the back of the head. The suspect and his friend fled the scene and were seen entering a bus. Arcadia Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on the bus and detained the suspect who was determined to be a juvenile runaway. The 17-year-old male from Chatsworth was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Friday, March 22:

12. At 12:35 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Huntington Drive regarding the report of a vehicle burglary. The victim left her car parked on the street overnight. She returned in the afternoon to find the driver’s side keyhole had been punched and the ignition had been tampered with. The unknown suspect(s) stole power tools, a camera lens, money, and a social security card.


13. At 8:50 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a robbery that had just occurred. Two suspects, a male and female, were seen shoplifting and were confronted by two loss prevention officers who attempted to detain them. The male suspect slipped out of his sweatshirt to escape, and the female suspect hit a loss prevention officer with her crossbody bag.

The two suspects were last seen running through the Promenade. The male suspect was described as 20 to 30-years-old, 5 feet ten inches tall, with a thin build, and dreadlocks. The female suspect was described as 25 to 35-years-old, with a thin build, and brown hair.


Saturday, March 23:

14. At 12:09 p.m., an officer was patrolling Rusnak Mercedes Benz of Arcadia, 55 West Huntington Drive, when he observed a male subject carrying a bicycle off the lot. A consensual search of the subject led to the discovery of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The subject also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The 32-year-old male transient was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.
