Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report - Sunday, May 19th, through Saturday, May 25th


For the period of Sunday, May 19th, through Saturday, May 25th, the Police Department responded to 952 calls for service of which 102 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.





Sunday, May 19:

1. At 5:23 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 2500 block of South Santa Anita Avenue regarding the report of a burglary. The unknown suspect(s) forced entry to the home by prying the front door causing an audible alarm to sound. No property appeared to be taken. A witness saw a black sedan parked in the driveway during the time the burglary occurred.

2. At 6:15 p.m., officers responded to a warehouse in the 11800 block of Goldring Road regarding a burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) entered the building by forcing open a locked box housing the key. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole camera equipment, keys, and numerous credit cards.

3. At 8:17 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a shoplifting report. A loss prevention officer observed the suspect steal a duffle bag from the store and fill it with over $1,000 worth of stolen clothing. The loss prevention officer contacted the suspect and detained him until police officers arrived. The 49-year-old male from El Monte was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Monday, May 20:

4. At 8:29 a.m., an officer responded to Licha Construction Inc., 124 North First Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. Surveillance footage revealed the suspect approached the business monument sign at 1:10 a.m. The suspect was seen stealing the spotlights in front of the sign and placing them inside his bags.

5. At 7:04 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Lemon Avenue regarding a burglary report. Unknown suspect(s) entered the home by forcing entry through the basement door. The suspect(s) ransacked multiple rooms, stealing a backpack, Chinese currency, and jewelry.


Tuesday, May 21:

6. At 7:22 p.m., an officer responded to the parking lot of 1108 South Baldwin Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary that had occurred. The unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger side window and stole an Adidas backpack, kneepads, and a pair of red and gray Nike shoes.


Wednesday, May 22:

7. At 11:30 a.m., an officer responded to the food court of The Shops at Santa Anita, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a grand theft report. The victim parked her electric wheelchair outside of the restroom. The victim exited the restroom to find her wheelchair had been stolen.

8. At 4:39 p.m., an officer responded to the east parking lot of the Arcadia Police Department regarding a report of suspicious circumstances. The reporting party informed the officer that she was leaving her bank after withdrawing cash when a woman knocked on her window and told her she dropped something. The reporting party did not believe the woman and drove off. The woman entered the passenger side of a white SUV that followed the reporting party until she entered the parking lot of the police department.


Thursday, May 23:

9. At 12:21 a.m., officers responded to a parking lot in the 100 block of North Santa Anita Avenue regarding a carjacking that had just occurred. The victim was sitting in his car when the suspect entered the passenger side of his car and removed the victim’s keys from the ignition. The victim stepped out of his car to confront the suspect and the suspect pushed the victim away from the car and produced a knife threatening to kill him. The victim ran for help and the suspect fled the scene in the victim’s car. An investigation conducted by Arcadia Police Detectives and the PACE Team with the assistance of Murrieta Police, resulted in the arrest of the suspect. The 34-year-old male from Anaheim was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Friday, May 24:

10. At 7:10 a.m., officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of East Norman Avenue regarding the report of a burglary. The victim heard three loud bangs coming from the rear of his residence. The victim went downstairs to investigate the noise. He discovered the sliding glass door had been shattered and his office had been ransacked.


Saturday, May 25:

11. At 2:21 a.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven, 102 East Huntington Drive, regarding an armed robbery that had just occurred. The suspect entered the store and pointed a gun at a customer and the clerk and demanded money. The clerk complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot. The suspect was described as a male with a thin build, six-feet tall, wearing a black ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black and white Nike shoes.

12. At 1:42 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of South Golden West Avenue regarding the report of a burglary. The victim left his home around 8:45 a.m. and he received a notification that his surveillance system had been disabled at 12:20 p.m. The victim responded to his home to discover it had been ransacked. The property loss was unknown at the time of the report. An investigation revealed the suspect(s) entered the home through an unlocked rear window.
