For the period of Sunday, September 29, through Saturday, October 5, the Police Department responded to 1,076 calls for service of which 102 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.
Sunday, September 29:
At 8:23 p.m., in the 100 block of East Santa Clara Street, the victim noticed the suspect stealing items from the unlocked vehicle of the victim's girlfriend. The victim confronted the suspect and attempted to restrain him. A struggle ensued, but the victim managed to detain the suspect. Officers arrived and arrested the suspect without incident.
Monday, September 30:
At 8:08 a.m., an officer responded to the block of 100 W. Floral Avenue to investigate a theft report. The victim stated that they had befriended the suspect on TikTok and sent a payment via Zelle for concert tickets that were never delivered. Upon reaching out to the suspect through their Instagram account, the suspect claimed that their TikTok account had been hacked and that they never sold any tickets.
Tuesday, October 1:
At 2:24 a.m., the victim was riding her bicycle near 12369 Lower Azusa Road when she was confronted by the suspect (ex-boyfriend), who was on foot. The suspect told the victim to give him the bicycle, but she refused. The suspect punched the victim in the face twice, resulting in visible injuries. The victim fled and the suspect fled by unknown means and direction.
Wednesday, October 2:
At 8:20 a.m., officers responded to the area of Naomi Avenue and Golden West Avenue regarding an Automated License Plate Reader alert of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was located in the Vons Pavilions parking lot. The lone female driver was arrested, and a firearm was discovered in the vehicle.
Thursday, October 3:
At 4:05 a.m., officers responded to 285 W. Huntington Drive (Santa Anita Park) to investigate a traffic collision. Upon arrival, they found a vehicle parked on a raised planter. The officers contacted the driver, who was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested.
Friday, October 4:
At 12:58 a.m., an unknown suspect smashed the front glass door of 1007 N. Santa Anita Avenue (The Nail Bar Arcadia) and made entry. Once inside, the suspect ransacked the register area and stole some paperwork. There was no other reported loss. The location is not equipped with an alarm system. CCTV footage from the location was reviewed and a description of the suspect was obtained.
Saturday, October 5:
Between 1:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., a residence in the 1500 block of South Fourth Street experienced a break-in, where the rear sliding glass door was shattered, and the interior was ransacked. The victim reported that a Gucci purse was taken from the premises. The suspect(s) managed to disable the alarm before it could be activated, and there were no surveillance cameras at the location. Currently, there is no information.
