Arcadia Police Department Weekly Activity Report -Sunday, September 8, through Saturday, September 14



For the period of Sunday, September 8, through Saturday, September 14, the Police Department responded to 1,012 calls for service of which 90 required formal investigations. The following is a summary report of some of the incidents handled by the Department during this period.


Sunday, September 8:

At 8:19 a.m. officers responded to Bonita Skate Park, 207 Bonita Street regarding a male suspect holding a spray paint can near the bathrooms. When officers arrived, they detained the suspect. The suspect admitted to possessing a spray paint can and throwing it down before officers arrived but denied spray painting any walls. Officers checked the bathrooms and surrounding area and found what appeared to be new graffiti on the south exterior and all the interior walls of the south bathroom. A field show up was conducted with the

reporting party positively identifying the suspect which resulted in his arrest for felony vandalism.


Monday, September 9:

At 4:40 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of South Baldwin Avenue regarding a burglary that just occurred. While enroute, dispatch stated that the reporting party was the property manager and was following the suspect on foot towards Huntington Drive. Officers located the suspect and detained him. The property manager stated that he entered the apartment unit, which was being renovated, and found the suspect in the bathroom taking tools. The missing tools were found in the suspect's backpack resulting in his arrest for

residential burglary.


Tuesday, September 10:

At 8:10 a.m., officers responded to City Hall located at 240 W. Huntington Drive after receiving a report of a subject vandalizing the building by graffitiing the doors. Upon their arrival, the suspect was detained and positively identified by the witness, leading to his arrest.


Wednesday, September 11:

At 5:50 p.m., officers working burglary suppression conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the area of Greenfield Avenue and East Live Oak Avenue on a suspicious vehicle for several California Vehicle Code violations. The investigation revealed that the driver was unlicensed and presented officers with a false name along with a fraudulent Colombian identification card. After a records check, the driver’s identity was discovered, and it revealed he had a No Bail warrant out of Orange County for first degree burglary. The driver was arrested for the No Bail Warrant.


Thursday, September 12:

At approximately 11:57 a.m., an officer responded to In-N-Out located at 420 N. Santa Anita Avenue regarding a drunk male who was refusing to leave the property. Upon arrival, the officer located the subject and determined he was intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested for public intoxication.


Friday, September 13:

At 8:05 a.m., at Sundance Window Coverings located at 5507 S. Peck Road an unknown suspect was observed setting fire to a bush that runs along the rear fence of the business. The suspect was chased away by an employee. There was no damage to the business. The Arcadia Fire Department responded and conducted an arson investigation.


Saturday, September 14:

At 6:54 p.m., Department personnel were monitoring the City’s mobile surveillance camera positioned at Eisenhower Park, located at 601 N. Second Avenue. They noticed a subject using a marker to tag the rain gutter on the east side of the restrooms. Officers responded promptly, detained the suspect, who was ultimately arrested for vandalism.
