Arcadia’s Got Talent

Hundreds turned out on Saturday, September 12, for Arcadia’s Stars and Stripes Community Picnic at City Hall.

In addition to the rare treat of being able to enjoy the famous Pink’s hot dogs without driving to L.A. and waiting for more than an hour, two highlights from the afternoon were a salute to Arcadia’s Hometown Heroes, kicking off theafternoon with a tribute to Arcadians currently on active duty in the military, as well as veterans, announced by Gene Glasco, and the first “Arcadia’s Got Talent” Competition where Arcadians sang, yodeled, played instruments, and otherwise competed for cash prizes and the first place title. Winners of the talent competition:

* Youth Division  – Winner – Kyrsti Chavez  – Second – Alana DeBlase  – 3rd – Demie Cao

* Teen and Above  – Winner – Carrie Qiu  – Second – Mary Guyer  – 3rd – Carl Trigilio and Jeff Black, The Magic Gents

Other activities included a Kid’s Fun Zone; old-fashioned games such as a water balloon toss; a bounce house; Junior Firefighter Obstacle Course; baseball speed pitch; and even a wheel spin in the Development Services corner for a chance to win a prize by demonstrating your knowledge of recycling.
