Carcadia @Route 66 for car lovers Dec. 14

Update August 2014: Carcadia @Route 66 is the fourth Sunday of each month from 7:30 a.m. – 9 a.m. on Santa Anita Avenue behind the Denny’s Restaurant at the corner of Santa Anita and Huntington Drive.

It’s the first of a series of casual get-togethers of car lovers over coffee on Saturday mornings presented by the non-profit

Arcadia’s Best Foundation and turn3 Creative called Carcadia @Route 66 (more commonly known as Huntington Drive). Denny’s is offering 15% off coffee and breakfast during the 60-90-minute get-together to participants and attendees of Carcadia @66 who present a flier offered by show organizers.

Some of the personal vehicles of more than a dozen local gear heads expected on Dec. 14 are a classic Chrysler Imperial belonging to Rob Post, who is also bringing his Post Alarm System‘s company’s famous classic ambulance that was one of the entries in the Arcadia’s Best Patriotic Festival parade in 2011, which also included a car show.

Also look for some Corvettes, Belle n’ Beau photography studio owner Raymond Elgin’s Shelby Mustang, and probably a Lotus and a 1970s 911 Porsche, among others recruited by turn3 Creative’s Glenn Oyoung.

The gathering is free for those who want to bring their cars or just enjoy the vehicles of others. The parking lot behind Denny’s is most easily accessible from Santa Anita Avenue north of Huntington Drive and south of Wheeler Avenue.

Carcadia @66 is the first of two fun activities in Downtown Arcadia Saturday, Dec. 14; it precedes the Arcadia’s Best Downtown Christmas Market by just a few hours and just a few yards away. The Christmas Market will be open from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. just a couple blocks away where First Avenue will be closed from Huntington Drive to Wheeler Avenue for a Christmas-themed farmer’s market with 50 vendors of food, drinks and gift items amidst holiday decorations, live music, and visits by Santa Claus.
