CITY HAVING ISSUES WITH DOLLAR TREE CONTRACTORS

As you have heard, Dollar Tree is coming to the former 99 Cents Only store site at 140 E. Duarte Rd. Unfortunately, they started work without permits, continued after we issued a stop work order, and have been shut down by the Fire Marshal for violations there. They have still not submitted new electrical plans or other items we need to be able to approve their

new use. They are pushing staff to ignore these concerns so that they can quickly open. We, of course, are holding them to safety standards and requiring them to get the necessary permits and inspections. As a result, you may be hearing from their representatives. Please direct them to our Development Services Department if they contact you. We are happy to

welcome this new use, but things must proceed safely.

10/11/2024 - DOLLAR TREE UPDATE

Last week, I told you we were having a series of issues with preparing the new Dollar Tree on Duarte Rd. for its expected opening. Shortly after sending out the weekly report, City staff and the developers were able to work out all the issues and all necessary permits and approvals were obtained.

Therefore, the facility has been cleared to open and operate.
