Colorado Blvd west of Santa Anita Avenue will be closed for four months starting Monday. Following completion of the Gold Line bridge over the 210 freeway last month, work begins January 7 on the double-track bridge over Colorado Boulevard near Newcastle Park. The entire road will be closed 24/7 both directions to San Antonio Road through Tuesday, April 30, and access to the road from turn lanes at Colorado Place, several blocks to the west, will also be closed off, requiring local residents to drive a significant distance out of their way to access even that portion of Colorado Blvd that is not being impacted by construction. Detour signs will be in place and local residents and businesses can be accessed by use of the detour routes. Construction will take place during daytime hours, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Metro advises of possible night or weekend work in order to complete the work as scheduled. Newcastle Park will remain open during the construction.
