Tuesday’s election results ended in a lot of change for Arcadia and Southern CA. Obviously, the President is changing and it looks like the Republicans may control both the US House and Senate. But locally, we have some other things happening.
Here’s a quick snapshot of key races and measures:
• David Fu will represent Arcadia Council District 1
• Paul Cheng will remain the Council Member in District 4
• Arcadia Unified School District Measure AS raising property taxes for school facilities passed
• County Measure A doubling the homelessness funding passed, bringing the Arcadia sales tax rate to 10.5%
• County Measure G adding Supervisorial Districts and establishing an elected CEO is very narrowly passing
• Adam Schiff will become our junior US Senator
• Judy Chu will remain our US Representative (Sorry April!)
• Alhambra Mayor Sasha Renee Perez will become our State Senator
• Mike Fong will remain our State Assemblymember
• Nathan Hochman will become our District Attorney
• Proposition 36, reversing part of Prop 47 and tightening up legal consequences for many crimes, passed
• Proposition 32 raising the minimum wage failed
