The Los Angeles County EMS Agency conducted their annual on-site survey and audit of the Fire Department’s paramedic program this week. Prior to the site visit, several documents are submitted to verify accuracy and compliance including EMS administrative and paramedic personnel rosters, an updated Quality Improvement Plan meeting the needs of the Department, and Department policies related to our paramedic program. During the site visit, several aspects of our paramedic program are closely examined and scrutinized. The Fire Department must demonstrate and show EMS data compliance, Quality Improvement documentation, proper tracking and ordering of medical devices and non-narcotic
medications, accurate tracking and securing of narcotics, and the correct inventory of all equipment carried for use in providing medical care on our paramedic units.
We’re proud to report that the Fire Department completed the audit with no remedial actions needed, something that is difficult to obtain considering the amount of work it involves. The Los Angeles County EMS Agency highlighted that our paramedic program consistently performs with high marks related to our Quality Improvement program. This is a testament to the outstanding in=house team as well as Medical Director Dr. Angie Loza and UCLA Nurse Educator Marianne Newby. Our paramedics and entire EMS team continue to perform at a high level and provide the best care to our community.
