The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week
of November 5 – 11, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for
this time period:
Sunday, November 5
At 10:17 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident
in the 1000 block of Golden West Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 45-year-
old male with a complaint of weakness and dizziness. Paramedics performed a full
medical evaluation which included intravenous access, blood pressure, and
electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further
evaluation and treatment.
Monday, November 6
At 9:57 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a reported hazard with the powerlines in the 100
block of Longdon Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find two mylar balloons wrapped
around the powerlines. Fire personnel mitigated the problem by removing the balloons
from the powerlines.
Tuesday, November 7
At 5:56 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 102, Truck 105, and Battalion 105 responded to an
appliance fire in the 100 block of Genoa Street. Fire personnel arrived to find the
occupants in front of the residence stating the oven was on fire. Fire personnel quickly
disconnected the oven’s power and turned off the gas to confine the fire and prevent any
fire extension. Fire personnel provided an electric blower to provide positive pressure
ventilation (PPV) for smoke removal. Once the smoke was removed, the occupant was
able to return inside the residence.
Wednesday, November 8
At 7:52 a.m., Truck 105 responded to a report of persons trapped inside an elevator in
the 400 block of East Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a stalled
elevator car with one person inside. Fire personnel gained access to the elevator control
room where the elevator system was reset electronically. Once the elevator system was
reset, fire personnel were able to extricate the occupant from the elevator car without
injury or damage. The occupant did not require medical assistance and was released on
scene. The elevator car was placed out-of-service, and the property management
company was notified.
Thursday, November 9
At 7:22 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in
the 100 block of Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 44-year-old
male who was suffering from palpitations. The patient received advanced life support
including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and blood glucose monitoring.
The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, November 10
At 11:02 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical assist in
the 200 block of Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 59-year-
old male who was suffering from numbness in the right arm. The patient received
advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access, and
blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further
evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, November 11
At 8:20 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a reported outside fire in the
600 block of Michillinda Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found
a vegetation fire extending into a pine tree with an exposed structure.
Fire personnel quickly extinguished the fire utilizing one handline. No structures were damaged, and the fire remains under investigation.
