
The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week
of February 9 – 15, 2025. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this
period:

Sunday, February 9
At 9:20 a.m., Engine 105 and Truck 105 responded to a report of people trapped inside
of an elevator in the 300 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel
found one occupant trapped in an elevator stuck between the fourth and fifth floors. The
elevator system was reset, and the passenger was safely rescued without injuries. The
elevator was placed out-of-service and building maintenance was notified.
Monday, February 10
At 6:37 a.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a two-
vehicle collision at the intersection of East Live Oak Avenue and Sixth Avenue. Upon
arrival, fire personnel found one car had crashed into a bus, causing the bus to strike a
streetlight, and one patient reported head pain. The patient received a full medical
evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG), intravenous therapy, and
was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.

Tuesday, February 11
At 3:50 p.m., Truck 105 responded to the 200 block of Wistaria Avenue for a report of
smoke in the area. Fire personnel arrived to find light white smoke in the area. Further
investigation led fire personnel to a backyard where a resident was burning vegetation.
The fire ring was not rated and did not have an ember screen; the resident agreed to
extinguish the fire to ensure the safety of the neighborhood.
Wednesday, February 12
At 2:27 p.m., Engine 107, Truck 105, and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 400
block of South Baldwin Avenue for a report of people trapped inside of an elevator. Fire
personnel arrived to find three occupants trapped inside of a stalled elevator. After
multiple attempts to reset the elevator with no improvement, the elevator doors were
forced open using rescue tools which allowed the passengers to exit safely from a hatch
on the ceiling of the stalled elevator car. No medical injuries occurred during this incident.
Thursday, February 13
At 5:23 p.m., Engine 107, Truck 105, and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report
of a flood condition in the 2000 block of Canyon Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found
a single-story residential structure with minor flooding in the living area after the rainstorm.
The backyard and pool area were flooded with approximately 5 inches of standing water.
Fire personnel utilized a trash pump to remove the excess standing water and placed
sandbags along the entry points into the house to prevent any further flooding inside the
structure.
Friday, February 14
At 12:51 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident
in the 100 block of Wheeler Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 78-year-old
female with a chief complaint of chest pain. While the patient was receiving a full medical
evaluation which included a 12-lead EKG and intravenous therapy, she was found to have
a third-degree heart block and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further
treatment.
Saturday, February 15
At 8:00 a.m., USAR 106 returned home from a mudslide pre-deployment as part of the
Urban Search and Rescue Task Force. During pre-deployment, Rescue Task Force 4
conducted mudslide preparation in the foothill areas that were affected by the Eaton Fire.
The task force developed a rescue plan for the Verdugo area and assisted residents
during the atmospheric river.
