The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 17 – 23, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this time period:
Sunday, March 17
At 2:33 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in
the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. When fire personnel arrived on scene, there was
a 28-year-old female with a complaint of a syncope. Fire personnel performed a full
medical evaluation that included vitals, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and intravenous
therapy. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and
treatment.
Monday, March 18
At 11:18 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, BLS 106,
and Battalion 105 responded to a reported traffic collision with persons trapped in the 400
block of South Baldwin Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find a single-vehicle traffic
collision involving a 32-year-old female who climbed out of the vehicle on her own. The
patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, March 19
At 7:17 p.m., Engine 107 responded to an animal rescue in the 200 block of East Foothill
Boulevard. Fire personnel arrived to find five kittens hiding deep inside of an engine
compartment. Fire personnel removed several undercarriage components to safely reach
the kittens. No damage to the vehicle occurred and the kittens were transported to a local
Humane Society.
Wednesday, March 20
At 5:18 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 1900 block of Alta Oaks Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 78-year-old female
with a chief complaint of a chest pain. Fire personnel obtained a 12-lead
electrocardiogram, established intravenous access, administered aspirin and
nitroglycerin, and obtained a complete set of vital signs. The patient was transported to
USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Thursday, March 21
At 3:31 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 300 block of North Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 27-year-
old male with a chief complaint of pain and deformity to his left ankle from a fall while rock
climbing. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation that included a complete set
of vital signs, electrocardiogram, established intravenous access, immobilized the ankle,
and administered pain medication. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital
for further evaluation and treatment.
Friday, March 22
At 6:22 a.m., Engine 107 was dispatched to an outdoor fire near the 210 Freeway on
Santa Anita Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find a vegetation fire, and the fire was
quickly extinguished. No property damage occurred, and the incident remains under
investigation.
Saturday, March 23
At 7:32 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 200 block of East
Huntington Drive for a reported traffic collision. Fire personnel arrived to find two male
adults that had been hit by a car. One patient with minor injuries was released on scene
and the other was transported to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
