The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week
of October 6 – 12, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this
period:
Sunday, October 6
At 4:07 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 107, Truck 105, and Battalion 105
responded to a report of a structure fire in the 400 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon
arrival, an employee reported that an electrical outlet had caught fire. Fire suppression
personnel isolated and shut down the power to the outlet and opened the wall around the
area to check for signs of heat and fire. Fire suppression personnel ensured the area was
safe, and the hazard was contained to the area of origin. The manager was advised to
contact an electrician for repairs.
Monday, October 7
At 6:07 a.m., Engine 107 responded to a report of a person needing assistance in the 700
block of Hampton Road. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a resident locked
out of her house and stuck on the second-story balcony. An extension ladder was utilized
to reach and help the resident to safety. There were no injuries associated with this
incident.
Tuesday, October 8
At 6:17 p.m., Engine 106, Engine 105, Engine 107, Truck 105, Truck 32, Rescue
Ambulance 105, and Battalion 105 responded to the 1400 block of South Baldwin Avenue
for a reported structure fire. Fire suppression personnel arrived to find a fire within the
main electrical panel within the kitchen of a restaurant. Due to the electrical energy,
carbon dioxide fire extinguishers were utilized to extinguish the fire. No structural damage
and no injuries occurred during this incident. Southern California Edison (SCE)
disconnected the power to remove the electrical hazard and the possibility of reignition.
Wednesday, October 9
At 3:50 a.m., Engine 105 responded to the 100 block of East Huntington Drive for a
reported rubbish fire. Fire suppression personnel arrived to find a small rubbish fire
against a commercial structure. The fire was quickly extinguished with one hose line. No
structural damage and no injuries occurred during this incident. This incident remains
under investigation.
Thursday, October 10
At 10:10 p.m., Truck 105 responded to a reported carbon monoxide alarm in the 1600
block of Fourth Avenue. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a malfunctioning
stove emitting a moderate flow of natural gas. The structure was evacuated, and the gas
was shut off. An electric blower was utilized to exhaust the natural gas from the structure,
and Southern California Gas Company was contacted for further investigation.
Friday, October 11
At 11:04 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident
in the 800 block of Hampton Road. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a 47-
year-old male with a chief complaint of pain and altered level of consciousness after falling
from a second-story roof. Fire suppression personnel performed a full medical evaluation
which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, established intravenous access, spinal
immobilization, and administered fluids intravenously. The patient was transported to
Huntington Hospital for further treatment.
Saturday, October 12
At 6:41 a.m., Engine 106 responded to a report of arcing wires in the 800 block of South
Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a high-voltage line with
an electrical fire. The area was secured, and the fire was contained to the area of origin.
SCE was dispatched to repair the electrical issue and restore power to the area.
