The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of September 29 – October 5, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:

Sunday, September 29
At 9:23 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a report of a fire alarm activation in the first block
of North Fifth Avenue. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a 3-story medical
building with an audible alarm. Fire suppression personnel gained access into the building
and found a domestic water line had burst in the first-floor attic space. The water supply
to the building was quickly shut down and additional equipment for water removal was
requested. Truck 105, Engine 107, and Monrovia Truck 101 crews responded, and
utilized water vacuums and floor squeegees to remove the standing water to prevent
further damage of the surgery center equipment.
Monday, September 30
At 7:42 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a report of arcing wires in the 1000 block
of Fairview Avenue. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a streetlight that had
an electrical fire. Fire suppression personnel secured the area to ensure that the fire was
contained to the area of origin, and contacted Southern California Edison (SCE) after the
fire was extinguished. The damage was isolated to the area of origin and SCE remained
on scene to repair the electrical issue.
Tuesday, October 1
At 11:36 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 107, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and Battalion
105 responded to a report of a natural gas leak in the 700 block of Camino Real Avenue.
Fire suppression personnel shut off the faulty equipment that was leaking gas and utilized
a multi-gas monitor to ensure that the area was clear of atmospheric hazards. The
occupant was advised to replace the faulty equipment and there were no injuries
associated with this incident.
Wednesday, October 2
At 12:40 p.m., Truck 105 responded to the 900 block of Arcadia Avenue for a request to
support a law enforcement agency. Fire suppression personnel arrived and assisted with
a breached vault within a residential home. The process was successful, and all items
retrieved were relinquished.
Thursday, October 3
At 12:40 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 400 block of
Santa Clara Street and arrived to find a one-month-old male with oral trauma and
significant bleeding from the mouth. Paramedics initiated advanced life support measures
on the patient, including intravenous fluids, cardiac monitoring, blood glucose testing, and
transport to Children’s Hospital.
Friday, October 4
At 4:46 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in
the 400 block of Fairview Avenue. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a 73-
year-old male with a chief complaint of diffuse abdominal pain. Fire suppression
personnel performed a full medical evaluation on the patient, including a 12-lead
electrocardiogram (EKG), established intravenous access, and administered an anti-
nausea medication. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further
treatment.
Saturday, October 5
At 12:37 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident
in the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found
a 77-year-old male with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire suppression personnel
obtained a full medical evaluation on the patient, including a 12-lead EKG and establishedintravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
