The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of December 8 – 14, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:
Sunday, December 8
At 4:21 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 500 block of East Sandra Avenue. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a
92-year-old female with a complaint of difficulty breathing. The patient received a full
medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG), blood glucose
test, intravenous access, breathing therapy, and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital
for further treatment.
Monday, December 9
At 9:07 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in
the 900 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a 68-
year-old male with a complaint of altered level of consciousness. Paramedics identified
the patient’s blood glucose level was too low, and provided a 12-lead EKG, intravenous
access, and administered dextrose to raise the patient’s blood glucose reading. The
patient’s blood glucose reading quickly returned to normal, and the patient declined
further treatment.
Tuesday, December 10
At 5:29 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 200 block of Arbolada Drive. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found an 87-
year-old male with a chief complaint of head pain from a fall while walking outside. The
patient received a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead EKG, intravenous
access, bandage, and was transported to Huntington Hospital for further treatment.
Wednesday, December 11
At 10:48 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident
in the 700 block of Southview Road. Upon arrival, there was a 26-year-old male with a
complaint of a behavioral disorder. The patient received a complete medical assessment
which included a 12-lead EKG, intravenous access, and was transported to USC Arcadia
Hospital for further treatment.
Thursday, December 12
At 7:18 p.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106, and BLS 106 responded to a report
of a two-vehicle traffic collision on the westbound 210 Freeway at the Michillinda Avenue
off-ramp. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found two patients with chief
complaints of multi-system trauma. Both patients received a full trauma assessment, but
both declined further treatment.
Friday, December 13
At 9:52 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in
the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found a 64-
year-old male with a complaint of general weakness. Paramedics performed a thorough
assessment and found the patient’s blood sugar to be extremely elevated. The patient
received a 12-lead EKG, intravenous access, fluid therapy, and was transported to USC
Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Saturday, December 14
At 4:01 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 400 block of West Woodruff Avenue. Upon arrival, fire suppression personnel found
an 86-year-old female with a complaint of altered level of consciousness and difficulty
breathing. The patient received a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead EKG,
intravenous access, oxygen therapy, and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for
further treatment.
