
The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of January 19 – 25, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this
period:

Sunday, January 19
At 7:29 a.m., Engine 105 was dispatched to the 2400 block of Fourth Avenue for a report
of an electrical hazard. Fire personnel arrived to find power lines down to the rear of the
homes. Residents were notified to stay clear of the area, and Southern California Edison
responded to resolve the hazard.
Monday, January 20
At 8:00 a.m., Engine 106 and Battalion 705 were deployed as part of an Office of
Emergency Services (OES) prepositioned strike team in preparation for the upcoming
Santa Ana wind event. The strike team consisted of Engine 106, Monrovia Engine 101,
Burbank Engine 15, Glendale Engine 21, Battalion 705 as the strike team leader, and
was strategically placed in Los Angeles. During their deployment, the winds did not
materialize, and the task force demobilized without incident.
Tuesday, January 21
At 9:15 a.m., Engine 705 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident at
the intersection of South Second Avenue and East Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire
personnel found a 49-year-old male exhibiting stroke symptoms. Paramedics performed
a series of stroke tests on the patient and identified the patient was experiencing a stroke.
The patient received a 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG), blood glucose check,
intravenous access, and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Wednesday, January 22
At 9:25 a.m., Engine 706 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a reported allergic
reaction in the 100 block of Campus Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 17-month-
old female suffering from an unknown allergic reaction. Paramedics obtained an initial set
of vital signs, an EKG, established intravenous access, and administered Benadryl to stop
the reaction. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
Thursday, January 23
At 12:41 p.m., Engine 106 and Truck 105 responded to the 600 block of Las Tunas Drive
for a person reported to be trapped inside an elevator. Fire personnel quickly reset the
elevator and helped the passenger out of the elevator to safety. The elevator was placed
out-of-service and building maintenance was notified.

Friday, January 24
At 10:10 p.m., Engine 106, Engine 105,
Engine 102, Truck 105, Truck 32, Rescue
Ambulance 106, Rescue Ambulance 105,
and Battalion 105 responded to a report of a
residential house fire in the 400 block of
Naomi Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel
found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the structure. The fire was isolated to the area of origin, the homeowner was safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
Saturday, January 25
At 7:37 p.m., Engine 107 responded to the 210 Freeway for a reported vegetation fire
east of Santa Anita Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find a fire spreading down the
embankment towards structures, and requested one additional engine to help contain the
blaze. No structure damage occurred, and the cause remains under investigation.
Badge Pinning Ceremony
On January 24, families, friends, and colleagues gathered at Headquarters Station for the
Badge Pinning Ceremony of our department’s newest Probationary Firefighters. Chief
Suen introduced, and sworn in, each new member while their loved ones pinned their
new badges.
