Fire Department Weekly Report - week of July 28 – August 3, 2024



The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of July 28 – August 3, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:



Sunday, July 28

At 11:22 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the 400 block of South Second Avenue for a reported person down. Fire personnel arrived to find a 58- year-old female with a traumatic injury from a fall. The patient was evaluated and transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.


Monday, July 29

At 2:11 p.m., Engine 106 responded to the 1000 block of South Baldwin Avenue for a reported outdoor type of fire. Fire personnel arrived to find a disgruntled male burning counterfeit bills after a local vendor denied taking those bills as payment. The fire was quickly extinguished, and the scene was released to Arcadia Police Department.


Tuesday, July 30

At 7:38 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a reported automobile versus pedestrian incident in the 900 block of Fairview Avenue. Upon arrival, there was one injured male that was struck by a car that was traveling approximately 30 miles per hour. The patient resulted in a head injury with an altered level of consciousness. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous therapy, blood pressure check, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to Huntington Hospital for further treatment.


Wednesday, July 31

At 10:07 a.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, Engine 101, and Battalion 105 responded to a reported outside encampment fire at Huntington Drive and the 210 Freeway. Upon further investigation, fire crews found a 50’ by 50’ vegetation fire that was burning from an encampment towards the 210 Freeway. The fire was extinguished using multiple hose lines and hand tools were utilized to mop-up the affected area. Arcadia Fire Investigator responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the incident.



Thursday, August 1

At 10:00 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a reported medical incident in the 600 block of Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 36-year-old male in a vehicle that came to rest on the center divider of the road. Further investigation revealed the patient had a seizure while driving. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included intravenous therapy, blood pressure check, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.


Friday, August 2

At 6:46 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a reported vehicle versus fire hydrant incident at the intersection of Huntington Drive and First Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a two-vehicle collision with one vehicle that sheered a fire hydrant.

Fire personnel utilized a hydrant shut-off key to shut off the water supply valve. Two patients received a full medical evaluation but refused transport to a nearby hospital. Arcadia Police Department remained on scene and Arcadia Public Works Department was notified of the sheered hydrant.


Saturday, August 3

At 3:19 p.m., Truck 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a reported two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Duarte Road and El Monte Avenue. Upon arrival, the two vehicles involved were found with deployed airbags. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation on two patients and found both suffered multi-system traumatic injuries. Both patients were transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation.
