Fire Department Weekly Report - week of July 7 - 13, 2024.


The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of July 7 - 13, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this

period:



Sunday, July 7

At 12:23 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a motorcyclist down,

on the East Bound 210 Freeway at Santa Anita. Upon arrival, Engine 105 and Rescue

Ambulance 105 found a 59-year-old male with a complaint of pain and deformity to his

left hip and leg. Fire personnel performed a full trauma assessment, which included an

electrocardiogram, established intravenous access, administered pain medication, and

obtained a complete set of vital signs. Paramedics determined the patient did meet

trauma criteria and Rescue Ambulance 105 transported the patient to Huntington Hospital

for evaluation.

Monday, July 8

At 11:56 p.m., Engine 106 responded to an animal rescue at the 400 block of South

Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, there were two kittens that were found stuck in the engine

compartment of a vehicle. Fire personnel safely extricated the kittens, and the kittens

were returned to the owner.

Tuesday, July 9

At 5:00 p.m., Engine 106 and crews from Glendale Fire, Burbank Fire, and Pasadena Fire

Department were dispatched for an immediate need Type 1 Strike Team to the Shelly

Fire in Yreka, California. Strike Team XLC1202A reported to the Incident Command Post

and were immediately assigned to structure protection on night operations. Arcadia

Firefighters that are on Strike Team assignments have a minimum commitment of 14

days. The Strike Team will be assigned to the Shelly Incident until they are demobilized

and released by the Incident Command.

Wednesday, July 10

At 1:17 p.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 106 and BLS Ambulance 106 responded

to the 1100 block of Murrietta for a 59-year-old female suffering from suicidal thoughts.

Firefighters arrived to find a patient exhibiting a mental health crisis. This patient was

transported by BLS Ambulance 106 to USC Arcadia Hospital for further care and

evaluation.

Thursday, July 11

At 1:56 p.m., Engine 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and BLS Ambulance 106 responded

to the 12000 block of Lower Azusa Road for a 42-year-old female suffering weakness.

Firefighters arrived to find the patient working on a loading dock with a sudden onset of

feeling weak. Paramedics evaluated the patient and was found to be in stable condition.

The patient was transported by BLS Ambulance 106 to the USC Arcadia Hospital for

further treatment.

Friday, July 12

At 1:29 p.m., Engine 107 and Truck 105 responded to a report of victims trapped inside

an elevator near the 300 block of East Foothill Boulevard. Upon arrival, Engine 107 and

Truck 105 crews found a stalled elevator car with two occupants inside. Fire personnel

gained access to the elevator’s control room where the elevator system was unable to be

reset electronically. Truck 105 personnel were able to lower the elevator car, back to the

first floor, by slowly releasing the hydraulic fluid manually. Both occupants were able to

exit safely without injury when the elevator doors were opened by Truck 105 personnel.

The elevator car was placed out-of-service, and the property management company was

contacted for repair.

Saturday, July 13

At 10:23 p.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident

near the 1500 block of Hyland Avenue. Upon arrival, Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance

105 found an 86-year-old female exhibiting stroke symptoms. Paramedics performed a

series of stroke tests on the patient and identified the patient was experiencing a stroke.

Fire personnel obtained a 12-lead electrocardiogram, blood glucose check, established

intravenous access, and Rescue Ambulance 105 transported the patient to the USC

Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.
