Fire Department Weekly Report - week of March 2 – 8, 2025

The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of March 2 – 8, 2025. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:







Sunday, March 2

At 10:22 p.m., Engine 105 responded to the 1900 block of South Sixth Avenue for a report

of powerlines down across the roadway. Fire personnel arrived to find a communication

line down and confirmed it was not energized and cleared the hazard.

Monday, March 3

At 10:49 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident

in the 600 block of West Duarte Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 35-year-old

female with a chief complaint of diffuse abdominal pain. The patient received a full medical

evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram (EKG), intravenous therapy,

medication for nausea, and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further

treatment.

Tuesday, March 4

At 5:08 p.m., Engine 105, BLS 106, and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical

incident in the 00 block of La Porte Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 10-year-

old female with a complaint of seizure. The patient received a full medical evaluation

which included a 12-lead EKG, intravenous therapy, blood glucose check, but remained

postictal. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.


Wednesday, March 5


At 2:49 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 106, and


Truck 105 responded to a report of a

compactor fire in the 100 block of East Live

Oak Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel

found a large trash compactor that had

malfunctioned, causing a fire. The electrical

supply to the equipment was shut off, the fire was extinguished using multiple hose lines and contained to its area of origin, and a blower was utilized to remove the smoke from the business. The manager was advised to repair the malfunctioned equipment.


Thursday, March 6

At 11:06 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a medical

incident in the 400 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found one

patient with a complaint of a head trauma and an altered level of consciousness. The

patient received a full trauma assessment and a medical evaluation which included a 12-

lead EKG, intravenous therapy, and was transported to Huntington Hospital for further

treatment.

Friday, March 7

At 2:49 p.m., Engine 106 responded to the 100 block of Campus Drive for a reported

medical alarm activation. Fire personnel arrived to find an elderly female that accidently

activated her pendant-style medical alarm but was unable to hear the built-in audible

warning device. The system was reset, and no medical attention was needed.

Saturday, March 8

At 12:35 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to the 1000 block of

South Baldwin Avenue for a person in pain. Fire personnel arrived to find a 59-year-old

male suffering from abdominal pain. The patient received advanced life support protocolsincluding intravenous therapy, cardiac monitoring, blood glucose testing, and was

transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.

Community Outreach

On March 6, Engine 106 crew participated in a 2-hour Read Across America event at

Baldwin Stocker Elementary School.

Read Across America is a week-long celebration that promotes literacy, joy, and

encourages reading. The week begins on March 2, initially tied to Dr. Seuss’s birthday,

and ends on March 6.

The crew read multiple books to students and talked to them about fire safety. Read

Across America was a great opportunity for the fire personnel to celebrate with young

children and interact with the community.
