The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week
of May 12 – 18, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this
time period:
Sunday, May 12
At 9:33 a.m., Engine 107 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the intersection of
Colorado Boulevard and Santa Anita Avenue for a reported two-vehicle auto accident.
Fire personnel arrived to find a 19-year-old female suffering from head and neck pain.
The patient received a 12-lead electrocardiogram and blood glucose testing and was
transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, May 13
At 1:04 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in
the 400 block of West Lemon Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 10-year-old
male with a chief complaint of chest pain. Fire personnel performed a full medical
evaluation and provided the patient with a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous
access. The patient was transported to Los Angeles General Medical Center for further
evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, May 14
At 5:36 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical
incident in the 100 block of East Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a
63-year-old male complaining of palpitations. Fire personnel performed a full medical
evaluation and found the patient with a heart rate of 180 beats per minute. The patient
received intravenous access, oxygen therapy, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and was
administered medication to treat the irregular heart rhythm. The heart rate was stabilized,
and the patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and
treatment.
Wednesday, May 15
At 2:47 p.m., Rescue Ambulance 105 and Truck 105 responded to a report of a two-
vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of West Duarte Road and Sunset Boulevard.
Upon arrival, there was a 35-year-old female with a chief compliant of multi-system
trauma. The patient received a full trauma assessment and treatment while being
transported to Huntington Hospital for further evaluation.
Thursday, May 16
At 7:02 a.m., Engine 107 responded to a report of electrical wires down at the intersection
of Highland Oaks Drive and Elkins Avenue. Upon arrival, there were wires laying across
the sidewalk and the wires were blocking the path of travel. Fire personnel created a
boundary around the hazardous area and mitigated the problem. Southern California
Edison was notified to respond to the affected area.
Friday, May 17
At 3:20 p.m., Engine 105, Engine 102, and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a
reported traffic collision on the eastbound 210 Freeway west of Huntington Drive. Fire
personnel arrived to find a two-vehicle traffic collision with multiple passengers involved.
All parties involved denied injury and refused assessment. Fire personnel remained on
scene to provide traffic control until California Highway Patrol arrived.
Saturday, May 18
At 2:06 p.m., Engine 105 responded to a
report of powerlines down at the
intersection of Live Oak Avenue and Sixth
Avenue. Fire personnel arrived to find high
voltage powerlines down across Live Oak
Avenue and multiple burn areas due to thelive powerlines. The power was shut down to allow fire personnel to extinguish several small grass fires and Southern California Edison was notified.
