The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week
of May 19 – 25, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this
time period:
Sunday, May 19
At 5:25 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in
the 200 block of West Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 24-year-old
female with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire personnel performed a full medical
evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and established intravenous
access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation.
Monday, May 20
At 8:48 a.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in
the 2000 block of South Santa Anita Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 54-
year-old male with a complaint of chest pain. Fire personnel performed a full medical
evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram, established intravenous access,
oxygen via non-rebreather mask, and administered medication. The patient began to
experience a heart attack and was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further
treatment.
Tuesday, May 21
At 3:58 p.m., Engine 106, Rescue Ambulance 41, and BLS 106 responded to a report of
a two-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and North Baldwin
Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found one patient with a chief complaint of total body
pain. Fire personnel performed a full trauma assessment, and the patient was transported
to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation.
Wednesday, May 22
At 11:28 a.m., Engine 105 responded to a report of an outside fire that had spread
in the 2000 block of South Eighth Avenue. Upon further investigation, fire personnel
found trash burning in an open area near an encampment. The fire was extinguished
with a hose line and hand tools were utilized to contain the fire to the area of origin.
Thursday, May 23
At 4:32 p.m., Engine 106 responded to a reported vehicle fire in the 600 block of West
Duarte Road. Fire personnel arrived to find a well involved engine compartment fire with
potential exposure issues. The fire was extinguished with one hand line to quickly control
the fire. No injuries and no other vehicles were damaged.
Friday, May 24
At 8:52 a.m., Engine 106 responded to a reported outdoor type of fire. Fire personnel
arrived to find a trash fire burning between two structures. Fire personnel quickly
extinguished the fire, limiting fire growth, extension, and damage. This incident remains
under investigation.
Saturday, May 25
At 4:29 p.m., Engine 105, Truck 105, Rescue Ambulance 106, and Battalion 105
responded to a reported traffic collision at the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and
Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a two-vehicle traffic collision with one
vehicle on its side. Two patients were inside the overturned vehicle and were safely
removed by fire personnel. Paramedics performed a full medical assessment on all four
occupants from both vehicles. One patient, a 49-year-old female, complained of right
shoulder and cheek pain from the accident. Fire personnel obtained a full set of vital signs,
12-lead electrocardiogram, and the patient refused further care. The other patients
refused further treatment and were released at the scene. Arcadia Police Department
personnel remained on scene for traffic control and further investigation.
