Fire Department Weekly Report - week of September 1 – 7, 2024



The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week of September 1 – 7, 2024. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for this period:


Sunday, September 1

At 12:15 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of an overturned vehicle at the intersection of Baldwin Avenue and Workman Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 26-year-old male with a complaint of minor traumatic injuries. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation of the patient that included vitals, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and a trauma assessment. The patient refused additional services.


Monday, September 2

At 2:06 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to the intersection of First Avenue and Huntington Drive for a reported traffic collision. Fire personnel arrived to find a two-vehicle traffic collision involving two patients. These patients suffered minor injuries and were evaluated and released on scene.

Tuesday, September 3

At 3:05 a.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical call in the 600 block of Sunset Boulevard. Fire personnel arrived to find a 97-year-old male describing that he felt short of breath. Paramedics initiated advanced life support care including oxygen therapy, 12-lead electrocardiogram, intravenous access, blood glucose testing, and transported the patient to Arcadia USC Hospital for further treatment.

Wednesday, September 4

At 6:53 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a medical incident in the 700 block of Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 41-year-old female with a complaint of a syncopal episode. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous access. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.

Thursday, September 5

At 3:25 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical incident in the 300 block of Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 30-year-old female with an allergic reaction, resulting in swollen eyes. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included a 12-lead electrocardiogram and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further treatment.

Friday, September 6

At 6:52 p.m., Engine 105 and Truck 105 responded to a report of persons trapped inside an elevator in the 300 block of Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a stalled elevator car with two occupants inside. The elevator system was unable to be reset electronically, and fire personnel lowered the elevator car by bleeding down the hydraulic fluid in the system. Both occupants were able to exit the elevator car safely

without injury. The elevator car was placed out-of-service, and the property management company was notified.

Saturday, September 7

At 10:28 p.m., Engine 107 responded to the 100 block of Wheeler Avenue for a reported rubbish fire. Fire personnel arrived to find a rubbish container, placed outdoors and away from structures, with its contents burning. The fire was extinguished with the use of a fire extinguisher, and no property damage occurred.
