The Arcadia Fire Department responded to a variety of emergency calls during the week
of September 24 – 30, 2023. The following is a breakdown of incident types recorded for
this time period:
Sunday, September 24
At 2:40 p.m., Engine 105, Rescue Ambulance 105, and units from Pasadena Fire
Department responded to a report of a two-car traffic collision on the 210 Freeway at
Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, there was one patient with a complaint of head pain. Fire
personnel performed a full medical evaluation on the patient that included vitals, 12-lead
electrocardiogram, and intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia
Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Monday, September 25
At 6:50 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a medical
incident in the 300 block of North Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, there was a 57-year-old
female with a complaint of chest tightness with palpitations. Fire personnel performed a
full medical evaluation on the patient that included vitals, 12-lead electrocardiogram, and
intravenous therapy. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further
evaluation and treatment.
Tuesday, September 26
At 8:24 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of a medical
incident in the 100 block of East Huntington Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a
47-year-old male complaining of chest pain while eating dinner. Fire personnel performed
a full medical evaluation on the patient, established intravenous access and oxygen
therapy, obtained a 12-lead electrocardiogram, and administered nitroglycerin for the
pain. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for further evaluation and
treatment.
Wednesday, September 27
At 1:01 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 106 responded to a report of a vehicle
versus pedestrian incident at the intersection of Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue.
Upon arrival, fire personnel found a 68-year-old female with a complaint of facial pain
after being struck by a vehicle. Fire personnel performed a full trauma assessment, which
included an electrocardiogram and a complete set of vital signs. Paramedics determined
the patient met trauma criteria and was transported to Huntington Health for further
evaluation and treatment. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured following the incident
and was released on scene.
Thursday, September 28
At 4:59 a.m., Engine 105 and Pasadena Engine
37 responded to a vehicle fire on the west bound
210 Freeway at Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire
personnel found a semi-truck burning on the side
of the freeway. Fire personnel rapidly deployed
hose lines and extinguished the fire with water
and foam solution. Once the fire was
extinguished, fire personnel investigated and
found truck operator reported brake issues and
pulled over to find rear axle area burning. The
incident was released to California Highway patrol for removal.
Friday, September 29
At 7:15 p.m., Engine 106 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a medical assist in
the 1600 block of South Baldwin Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel evaluated a 70-
year-old male who was suffering from an altered level of consciousness. The patientreceived advanced life support including 12-lead cardiac monitoring, intravenous access,
and blood glucose monitoring. The patient was transported to USC Arcadia Hospital for
further evaluation and treatment.
Saturday, September 30
At 9:08 p.m., Engine 105 and Rescue Ambulance 105 responded to a report of an
automobile versus pedestrian incident at Baldwin Avenue and 210 Freeway. Upon arrival,
there was a 29-year-old male that was struck by a car that was traveling approximately
30 miles per hour. Fire personnel performed a full medical evaluation which included
intravenous therapy, blood pressure, and electrocardiogram. The patient was transported
to USC Arcadia Hospital.
