Dispose of your household hazardous and e-waste free from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at a Los Angeles County Sanitation District collection roundup at Santa Anita Park.
San Gabriel Valley residents are encouraged to bring materials such as paints, solvents, pesticides, out-of-date computers, computer CPU’s, keyboards, monitors, printers, televisions and cellular phones.
Enter Santa Anita Gate 6 to the Colorado Parking Lot, located north of the track’s infield and accessible by taking Colorado Place off of either Baldwin Ave. to the west, or Santa Anita Ave. to the east.
“This is a very important event that has tangible ecological benefits for the entire region,” said Santa Anita Community and Special Events Coordinator Pete Siberell. “We make our facility available to the L.A. County Sanitation District annually and the Colorado Lot has proven to be very convenient for people bringing the hazardous waste. If we can help to prevent this stuff from getting into local landfills, everybody wins. “We’d also like to let people know that items should be brought in sturdy boxes, preferably in their originally labeled containers. Additionally, there’s a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste allowed per trip.”
For more information regarding this event, people are encouraged to call 1-888-CLEAN-LA. Additional information is also available at the CleanLA website.
