Join us once again for the annual Arcadia High School Honors History Student Exhibit running from June 5 – August 29 at the Arcadia Historical Museum, 380 W. Huntington Drive, immediately behind the Community Center. The exhibit features projects on selected local historical topics researched and created by honors students from the local high school. This exhibition, led by Arcadia High School history teacher Oliver Beckwith is one you don’t want to miss because our Arcadia students are exceptional. From Mr. Beckwith: I am proud to announce a class project, Arcadia Through the Ages, at the Arcadia History Museum. Students in my Honors US History classes at Arcadia High School interviewed a cross section of people from our community and their stories are presented in the display. What it’s about: Business Week magazine recently named Arcadia the best place in California to raise children. People who live and work in this community know it is a special place; they come from many places and have diverse backgrounds but they are all here at this time and place. My students wanted to find out what it is that makes this community so special to the people that live here. The people come from all backgrounds and age groups, from elementary and middle school age children to octogenarians, and occupations from small business owners to large corporation presidents. This is part of an ongoing oral history project and the display will continue at the museum through August. For their participation in this project I would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Klatt and Carrie Li at the District Office, Mr. Rodriguez from First Avenue Middle School, Nadia Hillman from Baldwin Stocker elementary school, and Carol Andreen from Hugo Reid elementary school. Oliver Beckwith, Arcadia High School The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is always free.
