Hospital babies reunion

Smiling, healthy children and adults who at one time were very sick patients at Methodist Hospital’s NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) will reunite with their doctors, nurses and other caregivers to celebrate the NICU’s 20th anniversary and share a time of reflection and fun from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Arcadia Community Center, 365 Campus Drive.

The infants, children and adults will be there with their families to show how they have beat the odds and are thriving today. The NICU reunion will feature children’s entertainment, kid-friendly food and crafts. The lively gathering promises to be a time of heartfelt celebration, with pictures of past patients as infants.

City and state representatives will present Methodist Hospital’s NICU department and Dennis Lee, president and CEO, with certificates of achievement at 12:30 p.m.

The vast majority of births are uncomplicated. However, if problems arise, Methodist Hospital has a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) on site, allowing babies to receive the best possible care without delay. A multidisciplinary team with specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in the critical care of babies provides coverage 24 hours a day.
