Huntington Drive was first named Falling Leaf Avenue by Lucky Baldwin and Hirum Unruh when Arcadia was developed in 1887.
The name change was approved by city ordinance No. 85 in 1919. In the mid 1920s, businesses relocated from North First Avenue to Huntington Drive. It became Arcadia’s main business district and developed as the major east-west route through town to become a segment of “Route 66” in 1931.
