The iconic Arcadia signs that hung over Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia for decades in the first half of the 20th century will return on the face of the new bridge being built to carry the Gold Line light rail train over Santa Anita Avenue. The historic signs hung over Baldwin Avenue near Duarte and over Huntington Drive near First Avenue during the 1930s-1950s, the latter sign donated by the Arcadia Chamber (see photo below right). The signs will be re-created though their location for placement has not been determined yet.

The announcement was just one of many notable and informative items shared by City of Arcadia Manager Dominic Lazzaretto in his annual State of the City address at the recent Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Planning Conference at Embassy Suites sponsored by Post Alarm Systems. — By Scott Hettrick
