Johnson’s Arcadia Inn, circa 1908

The Arcadia Inn was a one-room beer bar operated by Bill Johnson (center) and his wife (far right) in their home located on the southeast corner of Santa Anita Blvd. and White Oak (now Foothill Blvd.). In 1908, White Oak was the major northern route east/west, from Monrovia into Pasadena. The Arcadia Inn was a popular spot, casual and cheap, for those not wishing to travel “into town.”
