Arboretum Botanist, Frank McDonough, will instruct this class that looks at more than a dozen major plant families represented by specimens here at the Arboretum.

You will learn about plant classification, how to identify plants genus, family and order using both printed and digital plant keys. You will also learn how to identify and determine the most important plant structures for identifying an unknown plant, strategies for using the internet to help you identify plants and other tools and skills useful in plant identification.

Each student is required to have: a 10X or 20X jewelers loop (preferably with light) and copy of “How to Identify Plants” by H.D. Harrington.
