No November Gold Line closures

There will be no 210 Freeway closures in November due to construction work on the Gold Line bridge, officials have announced. Following completion of the three deep foundations (in photo below right), work has begun on excavating the foundation from the old bridge.

Meanwhile, on October 27, the Metro board approved an amendment to the funding agreement allowing the Foothill Extension Construction Authority access to $208 million of the approved $735 million total project budget, an increase of $103.6 million from the original terms. This will allow the Authority to provide Kiewit Parsons Joint Venture an Interim  Notice to Proceed for the Pasadena-to-Azusa design and preconstruction work, which keeps the project on schedule for construction completion in 2015.

The Authority requested the amendment which allows the design and preconstruction work to start while continuing efforts to complete the last funding agreement conditions related to assemblage of the Maintenance and Operations facility real estate. Currently, price and terms have been agreed with all but a single private property owner. The city of Monrovia has been barred from considering the Authority’s terms of purchase until after the State Supreme Court rules on pending lawsuits surrounding state redevelopment agencies; a decision is expected in January.
