A bear swimming in a neighbor’s pool or a deer grazing in a flower bed may not be an uncommon sight in the Foothill cities of the San Gabriel Mountains. But what can residents do to discourage unwanted wildlife visitors? And, even more so, what can they do if they encounter a bear, coyote, or bobcat in their yards or in the streets? Park Ranger Marlene Yang at Canyon Park in Monrovia will answer these questions and more when she speaks to members of the California Retired Teachers’ Association #71 (CalRTA-SGV) at their June meeting.
The CalRTA #71 luncheon meeting will take place on Friday, June 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Senior Center Building in Arcadia Park (county park), 405 South Santa Anita Ave., Arcadia, next to the Lawn Bowling Greens. The cost of the luncheon for members and guests is $13. For those who pay at the door, the cost is $14. For reservations, please call Joyce McGregor at (626) 447-6543.
Membership in the California Retired Teachers’ Association is open to all retired educators and to any others interested in joining this active group. CalRTA’s motto is “Your Partner in Pension Protection.”
